Our next stop is Koh Lanta after hearing a lot of good things about it. We opted for the afternoon bus at 1pm to give us some spare time in the morning. Mollie, Meg and I headed into town around 9.30 in search of shakes for breakfast and ended up working 45 minutes each way to get them. That is commitment. We then arrived back just before 11 to meet katie and check out.
This left us with 2 hours until our bus, and so we had a quick trip to 7/11 to buy snacks for the journey and then wanders around and meggit her hair braided before we got some lunch in a restaurant. By the time we went back to the hostel the guy was waiting to pick us up to take us to Koh Lanta.
The journey was... interesting! We stopped a few times for weird reasons such as to look for the driver's shirt?? And to allow a woman to buy herself some lunch at the side of the road. But we did make it alive, and arrived at our hostel late afternoon. Outside the hostel was a sign saying that a room in a dorm was 100 baht. We'd booked online and paid a deposit totalling 170, but when we came to pay the guy attempted to defend his price and made us pay the full amount each which was annoying.
After this awkwardness we went down to the local beach which was beautiful! The waves were rough but we spent a few hours here which was nice, going in the sea which was pretty rough, and Meg and I ran an impromptu 4.5km down the beach.
After showering we were ready for dinner and headed for dinner at a local restaurant, and even treated our selves to a cheap cocktail in a bar afrewards which was nice.
