Tiger Cave Temple and Railay

Today started early with a 6.45am wake up ready to go and climb up to the Tiger Cave Temple. We caught the public bus there and arrived just before 8 armed with some ritz crackers. There are 1237 steps up to the temple, and even this early it was hot. Meg and I led the way and we made it up in just over 20 minutes and waited before the others soon joined us. The views are amazing and we were literally above the clouds. We spent about am hour at the top cooling off, drinking lots of water and taking pictures before heading down.

At the bottom we tried to get a tuk tuk back into town but were being quoted a lot, so we began walking down the road in the hope of finding a cheaper one. We succeeded and headed back to town where we showered and changed before checking out. We then got the bus down to the beach where we had a 20 minute uphill walk in the midday heat (not fun) to reach our new hostel. We checked in and then headed out for some lunch at a cheap local restaurant, before continuing down to the beach. Meg wasn't feeling well so she went back to the room.

We caught a longboat over to Railay, a small island near Krabi with beautiful beaches and views. We spent the afternoon wandering around spotting monkeys and relaxing on the beach. We caught the longboat back around 6 which was slightly more terrifying than the way and involved wading out into the water. We arrived back at a different beach to where we had left from but got cheap shakes and sat to watch the sunset.

Afterwards we headed back to the hostel to check on Meg and then all headed out for some dinner. We had a free dinner (vegetable fried rice) provided by the hostel and then hung out in the hostel for the evening, planning the following day's travel to Koh Lanta and sorting a hostel. We went for a wander around the town and I got my vegan cocount ice cream at last, and then we went back to go to bed.
