Arrival in Nepal

The next morning we had an early start at around 5.30am to get our flight. We had put on a lot of washing and drying but unfortunately it didn't dry very well so we ended up having to pack damp clothes. We got a pre-booked grab to the bus station where we got the bus to the airport, arriving just after seven. We checked in and got a classy mcdonalds breakfast before going through security and boarding our flight just after 9am.

Our flight was about 4 and a half hours but we had onboard entertainment and a meal which I was not expecting! And after our early start we were all keen to spend the majority of the time sleeping. We soon landed in Kathmandu airport which was very small and began the slightly complicated process of obtaining a visa on arrival. We had to pay $25 and complete a form, before we exchanged our Malaysian money into nepalese rupee. We finally got through security and got a taxi to the backpacker area of Kathmandu where we found our hostel and checked in. For £6 a night we got a large triple room which was perfect!

After showering we headed out in search of some food, and ended up in a local restaurant. We all got the vegetarian thali set which included a vegetable curry, dahl, rice and a poppadom for around £1.50. After lunch we went for a wander around the area, looking in the local shops as we went and I bought a scarf. We managed to find a pretty square with a temple in and then wandered to some gardens. It was very pretty to walk around and much more calm and serene than the surrounding traffic and noise.
Afterwards we headed back and then went for some food, and katie and I shared momos; a local dish, which were very nice. We then headed back to our room, did an ab workout and went to bed.
