After waking up on the beach after a surprisingly good night's sleep we were all ready to return to normality and a shower. We quickly packed our things, cleaned ourselves as best we could with a wet wipe and then got a boat back to the entrance to avoid another close encounter with the monkeys. From here we caught the bus back to Georgetown, and it was a short walk to the hostel.
After some long showers we refilled our water bottles and headed out for some lunch. We opted for a really busy traditional restaurant, and for the first time this trip were disappointed with the food. I had a grass jelly drink, quite literally made from grass, and black in colour. It was grim. And we all went for tofu and vegetable based dishes. The one I had tasted distinctly meaty and was generally really unpleasant, but hey we tried.
After this interesting meal we headed off down the street where Katie and I picked up some cheap watermelon which was delicious, and continued on our way. We wandered around, stopped off in a mall and ended up buying some cheap stuff in the h&m sale, and then stopped in a cafe for a cold drink- it was boiling!
We debated visiting a museum but our flight was at 7pm so we needed to leave the city about 4.30, and so decided to do that when we're back in Penang. We got a grab to the airport and waited there, getting some dinner before checking in. Our flight ended up being delayed for an hour and a half- ironic as the flight itself is around 20 minutes long! We finally boarded and flew, I think the seat belt sign was off for about 4 minutes in total, and soon landed in Langkawi. We got a taxi to our hostel in the torrential rain and soon went to bed.
