Batu caves, night market and twin towers

After a late night watching the world cup final we didn't end up waking up until about half 12 in the afternoon. We showered then headed out to get some food, ending up at a local restaurant where I had a dosa; a staple in my currently primarily carb-based diet. I picked up a big coke in 7/11 on our way back to the hostel to get a grab as it was absolutely boiling and I was already sweating from a 2 minute walk.

We took a grab to the batu caves, and spent a couple of hours looking around. After climbing the stairs you enter a large cave with the temple inside. Unfortunately it's undergoing a lot of building work so the actual temple is currently very underwhelming, but we helped to carry some of the building materials across the cave. We also saw a lot of people worshipping and watching a monk (?) acting out some holy duties while other people played music, which was cool to see.

After our time here we caught the metro back to where we were staying, and ended up heading straight to the night market. We spent a while wandering around looking at the stalls of souvenirs, before stopping at a food court to get some dinner. The wandering continued and we all bought a few bits; the prices are very cheap with haggling and I got some replacement shoes as mine are breaking for about £4! We also bumped into my friend Michael who was in KL at the same time as us which was really nice and we had a quick chat before being told to move by a stall owner!

After we'd wandered enough we headed back to the hostel and meg went in, but katie and I continued on to visit the Petronas twin towers. The walk was somewhat eventful as a man on a motorbike groped katie as he passed!! I only found out about 10 seconds later but set off down the road ready to slap him before realising I wasn't going to keep up and it probably wasn't the wisest idea. Disgusting though!!

We spent about an hour at the towers, primarily just trying to get a good photo, and when we finally succeeded we tried to get the free bus back in favour of the nearly hour long walk. However this didn't work out well; the bus didn't go anywhere near where we were staying so though we'd do a second lap and get off as close as possible but the bus terminated and we were back where we started. We realised this was the last bus and ordered a grab, waited nearly 20 minutes for it, cancelled it and then ordered a second. I then lost wifi connection and it finally arrived about 15 minutes later. By the time we got home we'd wasted as long as the walk would have taken, and I was relieved to see my bed!
