An 8.30am wake up was very welcome, and we got the free hostel breakfast (toast, bananas and tea) whilst planning what to do. We ventured out so that the others could use an ATM, and also purchased a sim card. For 600 rupees we got unlimited data which we can use to access the Internet when we're out, and all use the same one on our phones. After sorting this we caught a tuk tuk to a local market.
I visited the market last year and bought my favourite trousers from there so I was on a mission to get some similar ones! Fortunately the trip paid off and we all left with a couple of pairs. I also got henna done in preparation for our trip to the Taj Mahal.
We then went to a restaurant to get some lunch before heading off to visit the red fort. I hadn't visited before but it was a really amazing place. We also spent a lot of our time there taking photos with the locals which is always funny. For the first time it was actually really hot so we had to take lots of breaks sitting down in the shade in between looking at the various buildings.
After the fort we decided to head to New Delhi train station so as to book some of our onwards travel. We'd been advised by the hostel staff to primarily take buses but we found that trains were as cheap as £1.20 for journeys of almost 4 hours! So we ended up booking a lot more than anticipated. It's quite a lengthy process, though, involving a lot of forms, so this took us some time, and by the time we were done we were ready for dinner. We found a cheap restaurant quickly and got some dinner before heading out to get a tuk tuk home. It took us ages to find one but managed to get one to use the meter, and our 45 minute journey across the capital cost only £1.50. As per we had an early night.
