Valentine's day

It's valentine's day tomorrow, and, rather selfishly, I am very happy that my little group of uni gals are all single. Yay! You just can't get the same 'we don't need no men' vibes when one of you is about to go and meet their boyfriend.

Ah, relationships. One of the strangest things about coming to uni was knowing that it's a fairly common place for people to meet their future spouses. Hmm, not sure I've met "the one" just yet. I'm strangely at peace with being single right now, which is quite weird for me. Ish. I get the odd "I just want someone to love me" thought on the regs, but who has time for a boyfriend to be honest? I mean, I haven't got many contact hours, but my time fills up quickly, and I'm not willing to sacrifice my leisure time (mainly spent napping) for some guy. And I really love spending time with my friends. They're funny af, and every night we sit in someone's kitchen or room and chat for ages about all kindsa stuff. I don't feel like I'm missing out.

We're kind of taught we should want a relationship. I mean, every Disney Princess has her prince. I'm still waiting for a rom com where the girl realises she's better off without a guy. Because I'll tell you now, no boyfriend is better than a shit one. This time 2 years ago I was in a relationship and I was not happy at all. I mean, he turned up to our valentine's date without so much as a card. It's a no from me.

So yeah, basically, spend valentine's day however you want. It's just another day, after all. Just an average Tuesday to be honest, though I'll be utilising the 'free subway when you buy a large drink' deal that's on. Being single really isn't that bad. Platonic love can be just as rewarding as romantic. Fuck the system. Live how you want, and don't waste your youth wishing you were in a relationship because, well, what's the point? Get your free subway and accept that this is how your life is right now. And hey, it's pancake day soon.
